I don't know if you have heard of Groupon yet, but it's quite the rave among money-savvy shoppers.
I'll be brief and get to the point - no use writing a whole long article on something that is simple to understand and saves you BIG dollars.
Groupon is a website designed to offer HUGE discounts (usually around 60% to 80%!) on products and services at local businesses. When you sign up for a free Groupon account, you get notified of the "deal of the day." The reason this deal is marked at such a low price is because they are able to sell the package in bulk.
How does this work?
First, Groupon acquires a special deal from a local business in your home town.
The local business offering the deal comes up with a minimum amount of sales that need to be made in order for the deal to be valid.
Then Groupon informs it's members of the deal via email and on their home page.
Members see the incredible discount, purchase it, and then wait to see if other people do as well. If the minimum number of sales is not reached, no one will be charged and the deal is off. If the minimum number of sales IS reached, the deal is on and it usually goes crazy!
Here's an example:
Yesterday, in Colorado Springs, a business called Revibe Pilates and Bodywork is offering a $39 60-minute massage and 3 pilates classes. This service usually sells for $95 - That's 59% off! A ridiculous price!
Other recent offers have included:
$12 for $30 worth of Southwestern cuisine
$29 for 18 holes of golf - normally priced at $64
$30 for a half day of rafting - normally priced at $64
$18 for drinks at The Blue Star - normally priced at $45
As you can see, Groupon is a great place to search for incredible prices on food, fun, entertainment, and other necessary services - all while supporting local businesses in your area.
Do you love to get the best deals when you travel? I do. I'm always looking for the best price on flights, hotels, and other various travel related expenses. I'd seen a few commercials about Hotwire.com recently and decided to check it out.
I was pleasantly surprised.
I have been doing a little bit of research over the last few years on which online travel booking agency is the best to use. The results of my unofficial and sporatic research have shown that they are almost all the same when it comes to price.
This year's Super Bowl was a blast to watch. I always enjoy getting together with friends and eating until I can't eat any more. As far as who wins the game, I usually never really care - I just want to see some good football.
Being as how my ears perk up any time I hear some kind of money saving tip or trick, I couldn't help but catch a few good ideas while watching the biggest ball game of the year. Here they are:
1. Get a free breakfast tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb 9th). Even though the commercials were a little annoying, in my opinion, the message was clear: Go to Denny's and eat for free from 6 am to 2 pm. Why not right?
2. Don't make large monetary bets on who will win the game. I'll bet there were plenty of people who lost money last night. Never underestimate the underdog in a Super Bowl game. Hey, I've got an even better idea: Don't bet, ever, ever, ever, ever....
Looking for the next best fuel saving car? Want to buy a reliable new Camry or Honda Civic in order to save money? You may want to think twice.
The idea of "going green" and being fuel efficient when it comes to cars is hyped up to be a great money-saver for people. The truth is, it probably isn't. Getting a new fuel efficient car in order to save money may actually end up costing you money.
